Lynda R. Williams is currently the Professor of the Practice at Middle Tennessee State University in the Department of Criminal Justice Administration, where she teaches on topics such as foreign/domestic terrorism, criminal justice processes, and executive law enforcement leadership. Prior to joining the faculty at MTSU, Ms. Williams had a distinguished career as a veteran of the United States Secret Service, serving in various capacities including as the Deputy Assistant Director. 

Throughout her time with the Secret Service, Lynda held a number of leadership positions. She was known for her exceptional service and dedication. She was the first African American female to serve as a supervisor in the Washington Field Office, and was later promoted to be the Special Agent in Charge of the Recruitment Division, where she led the agency’s most successful recruiting, marketing, and hiring efforts to date. Upon her retirement from the Secret Service in 2017, Lynda had become one of the highest-ranking women in the agency’s history.

Ms. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science from MTSU and a Master of Science in Management from Johns Hopkins University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Leadership & Decision Making at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. She is also active in her community, serving  as a member in organizations such as the Tennessee Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Social Justice committee at Middle Tennessee State University, and the Pi Nu Omega, Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
